IBEW Local 197 electricians build, power, and maintain the electrical systems that keep our communities running. Their work starts long before a building opens and continues throughout its lifetime — installing conduit and wiring, setting electrical panels, connecting power systems, and ensuring every project operates safely and reliably. From commercial buildings and schools to manufacturing facilities and public infrastructure, Local 197 members provide the skilled electrical work that brings projects to life.
Electricians are responsible for much more than flipping a switch. Local 197 members read complex blueprints, troubleshoot problems, install lighting and control systems, and maintain the electrical networks that businesses and communities depend on every day. Working in both new construction and maintenance environments, they combine technical knowledge with hands-on skill to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality electrical systems.
Through union training and real-world experience, IBEW Local 197 electricians uphold strong standards of safety, craftsmanship, and professionalism on every jobsite. Their work supports local contractors, strengthens the regional workforce, and ensures projects are completed by highly trained local professionals who take pride in doing the job right the first time.
As part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 197 is dedicated to advancing the electrical trade through ongoing education, strong labor standards, and quality training.
